Who is responsible

Browsing the directory

You can use the directory without an account. To understand which pages and features are used, we record anonymous events (for example a page view, a search, a click to a university's website, or a sponsored placement being shown). We do not store IP addresses: each event carries a one-way code derived from the date, your IP address and browser type with a secret key, which changes every day and cannot be turned back into your IP address. Known bots are excluded. This measurement sets no cookies.

Your comparison shortlist and saved programs are stored only in your own browser (local storage). They are not sent to us; opening the comparison page sends only the program ids in its address.

Cookies and analytics

The public site sets no cookies. Administrators who sign in to the editorial panel receive a session cookie that is strictly necessary for that purpose.

Forms you send us

When you submit a university or program, report a correction, ask to represent a university, or send an advertising or contact enquiry, we store what you entered so we can review and answer it. We do not publish the names, e-mail addresses or phone numbers of people who contact us. To prevent abuse we keep a short-lived, one-way code of the sender's IP address for rate limiting.

Information requests about a school or program

If you are an adult asking about a program, we collect your name, e-mail address and, only if you add them, a phone number, an intended start term, a level of interest and a short message. We never ask for Social Security numbers, tax returns, bank or card details or identity documents. Before you send the request the form names who may receive it. Where the school publishes an admissions contact, we forward your request to that school only if you tick a required permission box, and only after one of our editors sends it: nothing is forwarded automatically. Where we have no verified school contact, the form says it is a directory contact form, and nothing is forwarded. Permission to receive our own e-mails is a separate, optional box that is never pre-ticked. A school that receives your request handles it under its own privacy policy. We keep information requests for up to 24 months; write to info@accountingdegrees.net to have yours deleted earlier.

How long we keep data

• Form submissions and correspondence: up to 24 months after the request is closed.
• Anonymous measurement events: up to 25 months.
• Rate-limiting codes: 48 hours.

Service providers

Hosting and database providers process data on our behalf to run the site. E-mail notifications are sent through our mail provider. Fonts are served from our own domain.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR or US state privacy laws), you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict processing, and to complain to a supervisory authority. Write to us at info@accountingdegrees.net.
