AccountingDegrees

An independent directory of US degree programs

Find Accounting Schools and Degree Programs

Compare accounting degrees, online study options, tuition, and admissions across the United States.

569 verified programs at 276 schools in 51 states (counted from published records) — every fact linked to the school's own pages. Coverage is growing and is not complete.

Browse degree levels

Associate, bachelor's, master's and PhD programs

Looking for a shorter credential? Accounting certificates are listed separately and are not degrees.

Accounting specializations

Nine subjects, kept distinct

Forensic accounting is not forensic science, and a taxation master's is not a law degree. Programs are mapped to a subject only from official curricula.

Comparison tools

Compare up to four programs side by side

Degree, subject, entry route, format, campus visits, schedule, credits, tuition basis, tests, deadlines, funding, business and accounting accreditation and any CPA-related statement in one table. No account needed — your list stays in this browser. We never pick a “winner” from incomplete data.

Transfer, admissions and CPA-pathway guides

Guides for applicants

Original guides built on primary sources. They explain the choices and keep the degree, the CPA Exam and licensure apart; they do not predict outcomes.

Editorial selections

Unranked selections with published criteria

We do not rank. These pages list programs and schools that meet stated, checkable criteria, in alphabetical order, with the sources and limitations shown. Sponsorship has no effect on them. Methodology

For schools

Reach prospective accounting students

Listings are free and factual. Schools can add a missing program, correct a fact, claim their profile, or sponsor a clearly labelled placement on relevant degree, online, subject and state pages. Sponsorship never buys editorial position or a place in a selection.

Institutional accreditation

Required for every school listed. Checked against the U.S. Department of Education's accreditation database (DAPIP). Business and accounting accreditation are shown separately.

Sources for every fact

Each fact links to the school's own page and shows when it was checked. Unknown stays unknown — never “free” or “closed”.

Independent

Not a college, a CPA review provider, an accounting firm or a licensing authority, and no government or professional-body endorsement is implied.

Questions, answered

Which programs does this directory include?

Associate, bachelor's and master's degrees and research doctorates in accounting, accountancy and taxation at US schools with current institutional accreditation from a recognized accreditor — campus, online or hybrid. Degrees in the subject and formal accounting majors or concentrations inside broader degrees (such as an MBA with an accounting specialization) are both listed, and always labelled. Certificates are published on their own page and never mixed into degree listings; minors, exam-review courses and law degrees are not listed.

Does an accounting degree make me eligible to become a CPA?

A degree, eligibility to sit the CPA Exam and a CPA license are three separate things, and the requirements for the second and third are set by each state board of accountancy. We never describe a degree as making anyone CPA-eligible. Where a program publishes its own CPA-related statement we show it with the jurisdiction and the source, and nothing more. Confirm with your state board.

What is the difference between business accreditation and accounting accreditation?

Institutional accreditation covers the whole school and is required for every listing. Business accreditation (AACSB, ACBSP, IACBE) covers a business unit or program, and accounting accreditation is a separate, supplemental record. We show each with the exact unit it covers and never infer one from another; the absence of either does not mean a program is illegitimate.

Can I study for a master's in accounting without an accounting degree?

Some programs are built for that. Each master's profile shows its entry route as the school words it — for graduates with an accounting background, a conversion program for non-accounting graduates, open to both, or a combined bachelor's and master's — and lists any foundation courses, which can add time and cost.

Does “online” mean I never have to go to campus?

Not always. We record campus visits, residencies, internships and live-session schedules separately, exactly as each school states them. If a page does not say, we show it as not verified — never as “none”. An online application or a few remote electives do not make a degree online.

Is the tuition shown the total cost?

No. Tuition is shown with its basis (per credit, per term, per year or whole program), student category and academic year. A total is calculated only when the program publishes both a per-credit rate and its credits, and it still excludes fees and other costs of attendance.

Do you rank schools?

No. Listings are alphabetical by default. The Best Colleges pages are unranked editorial selections built on published criteria. Paid placements are labelled Sponsored, sit in their own section and never change the order of the directory or the selections.
